Neuschwanstein! Sleeping Beauty's Castle! Disney Castle! What ever name you know it by, this is the castle to visit in Germany. It sits in the mountains. To one side is a canyon with a waterfall and river. To the other side lays a valley. The view is just one of a kind. The inside of this castle matches the outside. Even though there are only 10 complete rooms in this castle, it really gives you a glimpse into this kings mind. The rooms are designed lavishly and luxuriously. The king made rooms simply for the enjoyment of having them.
Tips for visiting:
- There are lots of stairs. If traveling with a small child, bring a carrier. It will be your best friend.
- You can walk up to the castle. I don't advise it. They offer a bus ride for cheap. However, if you are in the mood for something more romantic, there is also a horse carriage that will take you to the top. Please be warned, neither of these options brings you straight to the entrance. You will still have a short hike.
- The ticket stand is located in the town below the castle itself. To buy tickets, you have two options. Option one is to show up and stand in line and be given a tour time (always first come first serve). You can not miss your time. So plan your trip to the entrance of the castle accordingly. Option two is to jump on line and pick your tour time and pay for it there. Then when you arrive at the castle all you have to do is jump in the fast line and pick up your castle ticket.

Hohenschwangau is a medieval styled castle that stands on the foothills below Neuschwanstein. It is a neat castle that is designed true to its architectural style. It is much more quaint than its neighboring castle. However, this castle is much more traditional. The tickets for this castle are sold in the same location as for Neuschwanstein. The same modes of transportation are available as well.
